Slovenia freeride KNK + Italian Alps + Swiss Mt Passes

KnK FUN FUN FUN from maga mcwhinnie on Vimeo.

We heard about this freeride last year and we missed it, we saw videos and the Google map image of this road and I signed up immediately for this year freeride.

We drove for a long time from Kozakov and arrived really late at night mobbing down in our new car down all the hairpins, we were frothing!!! We set up camped in the dark and started hearing very familiar voices running towards us. I was really happy to meet up again with  a great friend Ishtar and the super lovely Gloria.

We had a fucking great time in this freeride, no pressure, sick parties, nice food, great friends around, beautiful place and a SICK HILL:  18 steep hairpins from 10am-6pm for 5 days!!!! It was definitely my favorite event to go. Had so many cool runs filming with Marisa, Ishti and Sammy; fast runs with the whole sector 9 -rad -these crew and heaps of fun just me in front of the pack  bombing down as fast as i could blasting fast checks and slides and  enjoying the hill with no one in front that could slow me down!!! LOVED IT!!!

I really wish we could organize more freeride events like this in Australia, more often!!!

We left a day before the event finished and went to ride the Italian Alps to the famous roads we went last year and discovered new roads and amazing looking towns on top of the Italian mountains.

We reached the Swiss boarder and reached the less busy mountain passes on our way to Jolandas's "DH Playground" . We set up camp really dark at night after skating loads of amazing roads and eating nice Rissotos. Everyday we woke with  glorious views of snowy picks, perfect build roads and waterfalls around us (our showers) , it felt like Paradise. Jolanda's Pass was so fast, long, technical with gnarly pitch black tunnels and waterfalls. It was worth going there and we will definitely come back!!! No wonder she skates the way she does!

Switzerland is a Downhill skateboarding paradise!

On our way to Peyragudes (France) after another epic skate day our car broke down in the middle of the highway, the clutch stopped working and we couldn't get it on gear at all. We got picked up by not cheap Swiss tow truck. The mechanics wanted to charge us more than the value of the car to fix it so we left it in Lausanne and kept our journey with the amazing help of the local Swiss crew that immediately contact us to offer us a place to stay or support! So lovely to know how in time of trouble our Skate community treats you like family! Thanks so much to them and Jolanda, Yvon and the Norwegian Crew that drove us to Peyragudes.
