Almabtrieb, The Championship of outer space.

At the beginning of the year Rob and I we were planning our skate trip for 2013, we start researching for the IDF races this year and minutes later we saw a post from our good mate Stephan Risch about a new Almabtrieb race for 2013, I asked for more info and quickly added it to our list of events to attend for 2013.
The road was sick a lot of turns, fast and technical 2 left corners that needed to check or break and one long and fast straight into a left hairpin....

The track was next to a big camping site with a great party tent, skate ramp and refreshing creek. The race was well organized into  4 days of loads of riding. First day was practice, second and thrid day  they decided to organize 2 days of  qualification races  through a series of round Robyn: Open (inc Women and Jr) , Women and Junior. Stoked to see more than 12 or more girls racing, I only knew like 3 of them. We had really tight runs together, super fast and gnarly. There was almost a crash on every run we had, all my runs had a crash caused by someone passing tight, sliding vs foot breaking, drifting out or even a girl pushed me out when I was in front on the straight hahaha... I noticed how our category is getting tougher and very competitive ....

I try to enjoy the rest of my heats in the opens since i didn't get a good position after all the gnarly crashes on my category rounds haha. To my surprise, I did really well in the opens  I got to qualified into the finals day bracket with Bekks and the rest of the boys.

Last day was the final brackets for all the categories. Bekks won the women category with a clean win in all her races  she showed us why she won the Women's Championship last year, she is a super solid rider, very fast with great lines and has a very precise Swiss foot break. Annemiekje from Netherlands , got second she is a new fast girl in our sport that has started racing recently and she is really good.

For the opens there was a tight for first place between Matze and Pat Swiss. I had a really fun race against Kyle Martin, Pat and Javier Tato.
